    [18:39] Yang (Will): test2

[18:39] The GM: Yep, I’m here.

    [18:39] Jin (Colton): Success!

[18:39] Jin (Colton): Stupid Messenger, blocking mah contacts when i add them

[18:40] The GM: That might have caused my catastrophic failure of the IM.

    [18:40] The GM: Alright.

[18:40] The GM: As I was attempting to say before I crashed.

[18:40] The GM: I have a quick player info sheet for all of you.

[18:40] The GM: I also need character info sheets from Will and Colton.

    [18:41] Jin (Colton): Yessir!

    [18:41] Yang (Will): http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=246745

    [18:41] Jin (Colton): http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=246746

    [18:41] Jin (Colton): That’d be faster…

    [18:42] The GM: Alright.

[18:44] The GM: Okay, everyone has the info sheet in one form or another.

[18:44] The GM: Let me know when you are done reading it.

    [18:44] Rachael: I didn’t get it

    [18:44] Jin (Colton): Haw haw

    [18:45] Jin (Colton): :P

[18:45] The GM: There, sent it to you.

[18:46] Yang (Will): got it and read it

[18:46] The GM: Rachael, could you accept the document? Just sent it to you.

    [18:47] Rachael: Got it, reading

    [18:47] The GM: Oh, okay.

    [18:49] Rachael: Sounds good.

[18:50] The GM: Alright, everyone is done.

    [18:50] The GM: That done….

[18:50] The GM: Welcome to my Avatar RPG, everyone.

    [18:50] Rachael: wooooooooooooo.

    [18:50] Jin (Colton): Yaaaay

[18:50] The GM: This is the first time that I have done any kind of RPG online, so things may go slow our first couple sessions.

[18:51] The GM: However, I am very excited to have the chance to do this, in such a vibrant setting, with such motivated players.

[18:51] The GM: Does anyone have any questions right off the bat?

    [18:51] Yang (Will): ummmmmmmmmm

    [18:51] Yang (Will): no

    [18:51] Yang (Will): =D

[18:51] The GM: Alright. Our main form of dialogue, description, and so on will be through this medium here. If that turns out not to work, we will switch to a forum-based game.

[18:52] The GM: Any events that only one player can know, perceive, or whatever else will be conducted in the other chat windows.

    [18:52] Yang (Will): kk

[18:52] The GM: If you have an questions between chat times, a facebook message is your best bet, an email being second best. I will do my best to reply promptly.

[18:52] The GM: Does everyone have a link to everyone else’s character sheet?

    [18:53] Yang (Will): yus

[18:53] Rachael: I’m copying mine over so i can edit it myself

[18:53] Rachael: I’ll send you the link when that’s done

[18:53] Rachael: but for now it’s all good

[18:53] The GM: Okay. And Colton?

[18:53] Jin (Colton): I dun have Rachels

    [18:53] Jin (Colton): But, yeah

[18:53] The GM: Okay. She is a chaotic neutral firebender outcast/acrobat.

[18:53] The GM: Rachael, send Colton the link along with me when you get that moved over.

    [18:54] Rachael: Kay.

[18:54] The GM: Now, let’s just get everyone’s character name, class, and motivation stated for everyone. While in game, please refer to others by character name. Please confine Out Of Character Chatter to other chat windows.

[18:55] The GM: Colton, we’ll start with you.

[18:56] Jin (Colton): I am Jin Ironfelt, of the Earth Kingdom. I am a student of the martial arts, and am working to improve my skills.

[18:56] The GM: Alright. Thank you, Jin.

[18:56] The GM: Will, you are next.

    [18:56] Yang (Will): Cool

[18:57] Yang (Will): I am Yang Wei and eccentric engineer of the Earth Kingdom. They basically threw me out because one too many things exploded. I have a huge amount of interests, and at the moment i am interested in cartography.

[18:58] The GM: Thank you, Yang.

[18:58] The GM: Rachael, you are next.

[18:59] Rachael: Zin Jiao here, Firebender, circus-rat and acrobat-turned contortionist. Looking to join the Royal Performers in the Fire Nation.

[18:59] The GM: Thank you, Zin.

[18:59] The GM: So, Jin, Yang, and Zin.

[19:00] The GM: The adventure has begun. Anyone have anything they need to do before we start the in-character portion?

[19:00] The GM: Food? Bathroom? Questions?

    [19:01] Jin (Colton): Noooope

[19:01] Rachael: Make Will go get me some chocolate!

[19:01] The GM: That is Yang, Zin. Yang.

[19:01] Rachael: You said ‘before the in character portion.’

    [19:01] The GM: Oh.

    [19:01] Rachael: Yes. xD

    [19:01] The GM: Then no. I won’t.

[19:01] The GM: Because I am a cruel and harsh GM.

    [19:01] Rachael: -stab-

    [19:02] Jin (Colton): -deflect-

[19:02] The GM: Sorry. I have GM immunity.

[19:02] The GM: But we are getting off topic.

[19:02] The GM: We will begin, then.

[19:02] The GM: The three of you are all in a caravan that is heading for Raven’s Bay.

[19:02] The GM: It is in an ambiguous area, with little control from either the Fire Nation or Earth Kingdom.

[19:03] The GM: Jin, you fell in with a group of travellers a few days ago and agreed to stay with them for mutual protection until you reached the town.

[19:04] The GM: Yang, this town is the closest to the western air temple, and you hoped to find a way of getting there…or finding any kind of map of the fire nation, as there are no accurate ones to be had in the Earth Kingdom.

[19:05] The GM: Zin, you are nearly out of cash, and it is not safe for you in either the Earth Kingdom or Fire Nation. This is one of the few places you could hope to perform and still make a living without getting killed or imprisoned.

[19:05] The GM: Most of the group are peasants or farmers, heading into the big city to sell or buy what goods they can.

[19:06] The GM: There is one trainee musician who has grated a bit on everyone, named Morzo, but he is so good natured that most people put up with his music.

[19:06] The GM: The only other stranger is an old man in Fire Nation robes named Zhame. He mostly keeps to himself.

[19:06] The GM: It is the middle of the afternoon when Raven’s Bay finally comes into sight beneath you.

[19:07] The GM: It is a town ringed by forest and mountains, with only one road and the ocean allowing passage in or out.

[19:07] The GM: The city, even from here, is starkly divided into thirds, in a mix of architecture seen in few other places.

[19:07] The GM: On the western side of the city, black iron Fire Navy ships belch smoke into the air, and metal-roofed warhouses stand in rows.

[19:08] The GM: On the eastern side, the graceful tile and thick walls of the Earth Kingdom prevail, and the ships are green, flowing, and are powered by sails.

[19:08] The GM: The middle of the city is a kind of mix and match, with slapdash buildings being the norm.

[19:08] The GM: The city is dominated by an old stone building, more castle than mansion, that stands on a hill in the center.

[19:09] The GM: This, you assume, must be the residence of Captain Hiao, who rules the twon.

    [19:09] The GM: town.

[19:09] The GM: The caravan starts its descent towards the city.

[19:09] The GM: Thing go smoothly for a while.

    [19:11] The GM: End narration.

[19:12] Jin (Colton): Whistles and leans over to the closest one beside him, Yang, whispering “Looks like there is one more wanting to join our troop.”

[19:12] Yang (Will): “Oh, and who might that be Jin?” Grumbled Yang

[19:12] The GM: First person is acceptable or even preferred.

[19:13] Yang (Will): *”Oh? Who might that be Jin?”

[19:14] Jin (Colton): I slap the old man across the back and chuckle, “Good to see you’re not worried. A black robed fellow up the hill.”

[19:15] Yang (Will): “Ah the Firenation Man…You know as horrible as the firenation is they have access to some very interesting technology…I would give my left arm to get a good look at it”

[19:16] Jin (Colton): “Ah, no. I ment the fellow on the hill.” I jerk my thumb over my shoulder, indicating the lone figure on the hill.

[19:16] The GM: While you are talking, a group of three men in black and gray clothing steps out in front of the caravan. Everyone stumbles to a halt.

[19:16] Yang (Will): “AH! That fellow. I seemed to have missed spotting him.”

[19:17] Jin (Colton): “Oop, more friends!”

[19:17] Yang (Will): Hello there! How are you three fine gentleman today?

[19:17] The GM: The man on the hill slides down and joint his fellows.

[19:17] The GM: A man, larger than the others, steps forward and points at Zin. “You there! Are you the leader of this sorry lot?” He ignores Yang completely.

[19:21] The GM: The Leader turns now to Yang and points a finger. “You! Who is leading this caravan? Answer me!”

[19:22] Yang (Will): Well quite honestly i dont know…i just joined up with them and nobody made any objections -smiles sheepishly-

[19:22] The GM: His followers have clubs, but this man is unnarmed except for a jeweled dagger. He is over six feet tall, balding, with a long black beard and tatoos of moose-lions on either arm.

[19:23] The GM: As Yang talks to him, the man seems to cool down slightly, but he still glares at everyone.

[19:24] Yang (Will): If you could kindly inform me as to what it is you want…?

[19:24] The GM: “So, you sorry leaderless lot, none of you decided to take charge. That is fine.”

[19:24] The GM: “But what I’m here for is simple. There is a tax to enter Raven’s Bay, and you lot haven’t paid.”

[19:24] The GM: He makes a signal, and a fifth man steps behind the group. He has a rusty but dangerous sword.

[19:25] Yang (Will): A tax? I am not overly familiar with the area but that does not make much sense to me…

[19:25] The GM: “If everyone could take out all your valuables - and you shut up, the one with the beard. Just stay in line or be quiet, or you’ll not make it to the town.”

[19:26] Yang (Will): “Jin now would be a good time to speak up…”

[19:26] Jin (Colton): “A tax imposed by the gentle townsfolk? How odd.”

[19:26] Jin (Colton): I chuckle, “Usually that’s the job of the king.”

    [19:27] The GM: *interupt*

[19:27] The GM: “Oh, you are going to pay for that one, you unarmed twit!”

[19:28] The GM: He lifts one fist, and a rock the size of your head tears itself from the ground and shoots at Jin.

    [19:28] The GM: Roll inititive.

[19:28] The GM: Well, I’ll roll it for you, I suppose.

[19:28] The GM: *combat is starting*

[19:28] Jin (Colton): Aye, that’d be grand

    [19:28] Yang (Will): ooh fun

    [19:28] Jin (Colton): OOCness

[19:29] The GM: Alright. The caravan stretched over about fifty feet of ground. There are four brigands in front and one in back.

[19:29] The GM: The leader is apparently an earthbender.

[19:29] The GM: Both Yang and Jin are in the front.

    [19:31] The GM: Initiative scores:

[19:31] The GM: Bad Guys: 17

    Jin: 9

    Yang: 12

[19:31] The GM: Alright, Jin, what is your flat-footed armor class?

[19:33] The GM: It is 12.

[19:33] The GM: Okay. The earthbender brigand attacks you with a thrown rock.

    [19:33] The GM: Attack roll:

    [19:33] The GM: 15.

    [19:33] The GM: Damage:

    [19:33] The GM: 2.

[19:34] The GM: Caught by surprise, you are unable to leap out of the way, and the roll glances off of your ribs, bruising you and nearly knocking you over.

[19:34] The GM: The other brigands, caught by surprise by their leader’s outburst, fumble to draw their weapons this turn.

[19:34] The GM: Yang, it is your turn.

[19:34] Yang (Will): Are the brigands within melee range?

[19:35] The GM: They are not, they are fifteen feet in front of you.

[19:36] Yang (Will): I sprint forward towards the nears brigand and smack him with my crowbar

[19:36] The GM: What is your speed?

    [19:36] Yang (Will): 30 ft

[19:37] The GM: Okay. Base Attack Bonus of +0. You need to draw your weapon, then move. That takes up your turn.

[19:37] Yang (Will): oh right forgot that

    [19:37] Yang (Will): okay

[19:37] Yang (Will): then actually im just going to draw weapon no movement

    [19:37] The GM: Okay.

[19:37] The GM: Jin, your turn then.

[19:38] Jin (Colton): I’ll run forward and attack the leader

[19:38] The GM: Okay. Attack roll at….

    [19:38] The GM: ….+3.

[19:39] The GM: As a note, you do not have your unnarmed attacks listed on your character sheet.

    [19:39] The GM: Attack Roll:

    [19:39] The GM: 16.

    [19:39] The GM: Hit.

    [19:39] The GM: Damage roll:

[19:39] The GM: What is your unnarmed damage die?

    [19:40] The GM: d6?

    [19:40] Jin (Colton): I’m…not exactly sure…

    [19:40] Yang (Will): hes actually a d4

[19:40] Yang (Will): light style martial art

    [19:40] Jin (Colton): Yup

[19:40] The GM: Okay. Damage roll:

    [19:40] The GM: 5 total.

[19:41] The GM: You send a flying kick into the earthbending leader, right into his side. You think you might have felt a rib crack, but he remains on his feet.

    [19:41] The GM: Brigands go.

[19:42] The GM: The one with the sword starts up from the back, but he stops as Zhame, the old fire nation man, moves in front of him. You don’t have any more time to spare than to note that fact.

[19:42] The GM: The leader pulls out his jeweled dagger and stabs at Jin.

[19:43] The GM: While the other three move aroud to engage Yang.

[19:43] The GM: Leader attack roll:

    [19:43] The GM: 18.

    [19:43] The GM: Damage roll:

    [19:43] The GM: 3.

[19:44] The GM: He slices at you with his dagger, and though you roll with the attack you still start bleeding from a keep cut to your left arm.

    [19:44] The GM: *deep cut.

[19:44] The GM: Two get into range to attack Yang.

    [19:44] The GM: Attack Rolls:

    [19:44] The GM: 2, 12.

    [19:44] The GM: Both miss.

[19:44] The GM: The other one is ten feet away, looking indecive.

[19:44] The GM: Yang, your turn.

[19:45] Yang (Will): I attack the nearest with my crowbar

    [19:45] The GM: Okay.

    [19:45] The GM: Attack roll:

    [19:45] The GM: 20 total.

    [19:46] The GM: Damage roll:

    [19:46] The GM: 6.

[19:46] The GM: You brain the first one, ploughing right through his feeble defense with a straight crow bar shot, and he goes down in a daze, eyes crossed and bleeding from a gash in his scalp.

[19:46] The GM: Jin, your turn.

[19:48] Jin (Colton): I’ll take a -2 penatly to my attack and go for the leader again. The 2 gets added to my AC for next turn.

[19:48] Jin (Colton): According to Combat expertise

    [19:48] The GM: Okay.

[19:48] The GM: ….you only get up to your BAB.

[19:48] The GM: The most you can take at level one is 1.

    [19:48] Jin (Colton): Ah

[19:48] Jin (Colton): well, guess that then : P

[19:49] The GM: Okay. Attack Roll:

    [19:49] The GM: 9 total.

    [19:49] The GM: Miss.

[19:50] The GM: You try to bring the man into range or your fists, but your injuries slow you down and you can’t risk getting cut by his dagger.

    [19:50] The GM: Brigands go.

[19:50] The GM: The man with the sword and Zhame are having some sort of struggle at the back of the caravan.

[19:51] The GM: The indesisive one takes another step back as Yang brings down his friend.

[19:51] The GM: The other next to Yang, however, makes an attack with his club, shouting, “Obsidian Fist!” as a battle cry.

    [19:51] The GM: Attack Roll:

    [19:51] The GM: 6.

[19:52] The GM: You don’t even have to move to avoid his attack, it goes wide as the man tries to defend himself against your crowbar at the same time.

[19:52] The GM: Meanwhile, the leader, favoring his probable broken ribs, takes a step back and brings his fist up in a earthbending stance. A rock tears itself from the ground and shoot at Jin.

    [19:52] The GM: Attack Roll:

    [19:52] The GM: 16.

[19:53] The GM: However, Jin’s armor class is seventeen due to Combat Expertise.

[19:53] Jin (Colton): 18 with my +1 wisdom bonus :D

[19:53] The GM: So, Jin’ dodges at the last second, the hurled rock missing by a fraction of an inch.

[19:53] The GM: Okay, about six inches, then.

    [19:53] Jin (Colton): xD

[19:54] The GM: Yang, it is your turn.

[19:54] Yang (Will): Alright, another smack of my crowbar should finish the bandit near me

[19:55] The GM: Okay. Attack Roll:

    [19:55] The GM: 7.

[19:55] The GM: You smash with your crowbar, but miss as the man frantically hurls himself backwards.

[19:55] The GM: Jin, it is your turn.

[19:56] Jin (Colton): Is it to late to apply dodge?

[19:56] The GM: Nope. You designate that target every turn on your turn.

[19:57] Jin (Colton): Ah, well then. I’ll target him for dodge, and go to smack him

[19:57] The GM: Okay. Any feats used or straight up attack?

[19:57] Jin (Colton): Let’s do peircing damage for the hell of it with Toothed Blow : P

    [19:57] The GM: Okay.

    [19:57] The GM: Attack Roll:

    [19:57] The GM: 17.

    [19:58] The GM: Damage roll:

    [19:58] Jin (Colton): Erm, I have 18.

[19:58] Jin (Colton): Wisdom bonus to my AC, 1, dodge gives 1

[19:58] The GM: This is your attack.

    [19:58] Jin (Colton): Oh

    [19:58] Jin (Colton): facedesk*

[19:58] Jin (Colton): I’ll shut up

[19:58] The GM: I can stop rolling damage, if you’d like.

    [19:59] The GM: Heh.

[19:59] The GM: Now, as I was saying.

    [19:59] The GM: Damage roll:

    [19:59] The GM: 8.

[19:59] The GM: With piercing damage.

[20:00] The GM: Like stabbing him with a dagger, your pointed fingers dig right into the man’s throat, and blood stains your fingers as the man collapsed, clutching his windpipe, and then collapses, jeweled dagger falling from his hand.

    [20:00] The GM: Brigands go.

[20:00] The GM: Zhame is still doing something with the dude in the back.

[20:00] The GM: The one who was waffling flees, running down the trail towards town.

[20:00] The GM: The other one, however, gives a strangled yell and pounds at Yang’s head.

    [20:00] The GM: 13.

    [20:00] The GM: Hit.

    [20:00] The GM: Damage Roll:

    [20:00] The GM: 2.

[20:01] The GM: You deflect most of the blow with your crowbar, but it still hits your shoulder and almost dislocates it.

[20:01] The GM: Yang, it is your turn.

[20:01] Yang (Will): Crowbar to the face again

    [20:01] The GM: Okay.

    [20:01] The GM: Attack roll:

    [20:01] The GM: ….natural twenty.

    [20:02] The GM: Critical Roll:

    [20:02] The GM: 15. Hit.

    [20:02] The GM: Critical Hit.

    [20:02] The GM: Damage Roll:

    [20:02] The GM: 9.

[20:02] The GM: You smash the man’s face in with the force of a moose-lion’s horns, crunching into his skull.

[20:03] The GM: He collapses, twitching.

    [20:03] The GM: /combat over/

[20:03] The GM: Feel free to now take whatever actions you would like outside of initiative.

[20:03] Yang (Will): I would like to search the bodies

    [20:04] The GM: Okay. Jin?

[20:04] Yang (Will): I’d also like to appraise that jeweled dagger

[20:05] Jin (Colton): I grab my arm to reduce the blood circulation, “Decent enough.”

[20:05] The GM: Okay. Most of the peasants were frozen in fear - the combat only lasted about twenty seconds. Now, some of them start to go into hysterics, but the rest appear fairly calm and help them.

[20:05] Yang (Will): “Let’s see if our friends were carrying anything interesting, shall we?

[20:06] The GM: Yang, you start to search the bodies, but the would-be musicians, Zomo, approaches you.

[20:06] Jin (Colton): “You do that. I’m going to look for a bandage. Not to interested in shiny things anyways”

[20:06] The GM: “That was amazing! Where did you learn to do that? Could I write a song about it? Wow!”

[20:06] The GM: He can’t be more than seventeen.

[20:07] The GM: Jin, as you try to staunch the bleeding, Zhame, the man in the fire nation man, approaches. His robes are a little ruffles, but he is carrying the rusted sword of the other bandit, and you seem that one tied up on the ground behind the caravan.

[20:07] Yang (Will): “Well young man, if you had a decent education you would be familiar with the idea of a lever, which multiplies the force of its user by a variable degree…

[20:08] The GM: Zomo’s face blanks, and he begins to back away, looking at you as if you are crazy.

[20:08] Yang (Will): “Hehehe…kids these days”

[20:08] The GM: Zhame comes up to Jin and offers him the sash from his robe. “Here, use this,” he says, and this is the first time you have heard him speak.

[20:09] The GM: He then turns to Yang and hands him to the sword.

    [20:09] The GM: *the sword

[20:09] The GM: “Such violent instruments.”

[20:09] Jin (Colton): I take a deep bow, “My thanks sir.” I proceed to try and mend my arm as best I can.

[20:09] The GM: He releases the sword, and shakes his head. “It is knowledge that is the key to life.”

[20:10] Yang (Will): I quite agree with you

[20:11] The GM: He nods gravely, bows to Jin, and heads back to the rest of the caravan to help them on their way.

[20:11] Yang (Will): Id like to finish looking for materials on the bodies…Jin go do what you want

[20:12] The GM: Okay. There are three bodies. Between them, they have 34 silver and 12 gold.

[20:12] The GM: *I am not recording loot, that is up to one of you*

[20:12] Jin (Colton): I follow after Zhame and try to raise the mood of the caravan

[20:12] The GM: Okay. There are two normal, fairly well-maintained steel knives and two clubs.

[20:13] The GM: Also, the jeweled dagger and a small copper ring on the leader.

[20:13] The GM: And then the sword, which while well-maintained looked to be of exceptional quality.

    [20:13] The GM: Roll:

[20:13] The GM: Yang, you recognize it as a true work of masterpiece, probably stolen from somewhere.

[20:14] The GM: Jin, between you and Zhame the peasants are quickly calmed, and you all start along the road again.

[20:15] The GM: Yang, Jin, any other actions, or do you want to continue to Raven’s Bay?

[20:20] Jin (Colton): Jaunts over to a rather attractive lady atop a wagon. “How’s everything holding up miss?”

[20:21] The GM: The girl, dressed in long flowing Earth Kingdom robes, blushes but looks at Jin sidelong. “Alright, after you saved us,” she says, blinked rapidly. “I’m Talia.”

[20:22] Yang (Will): Jin! What are you doing up there?

[20:22] Jin (Colton): I extend a hand and smile, “A pleasure miss Talia. I’m Jin. Glad I could be of service to a lovely lady like yourself.”

[20:23] Jin (Colton): Casts a sidelong glance at Yang before looking back to the lady. “Sorry, appears I’m needed. Perhaps we can meet later and get to know each other a bit better, if you’d give me the honor.”

[20:24] Yang (Will): If you do not HURRY UP, I WILL leave you behind!

[20:24] The GM: A man you think is her father, with gray at his temples, glares at you, but the woman giggles and quickly says, “We’re staying at the White Jade tea shop tavern. See you there, Jin!” she shouts as you leave to follow Yang, who is ominously tapping his crowbar.

[20:25] Yang (Will): If you do not womanizing Jin, it will come back to bite you, you know that right?

[20:25] Jin (Colton): “Sorry old man, had to make sure everyone was taken care of. Anything interesting?”

[20:25] Jin (Colton): Looks hurt,” Why, how could you? I was just making sure she wasn’t to rattled.”

[20:26] Yang (Will): A fancy dagger, some money that we can use for food…and a very nice sword

[20:26] The GM: Okay. You two banter the rest of the way to Raven’s Bay..

[20:26] Jin (Colton): “Ah, yes. From the Zhame fellow? Seems like a good man.”

[20:27] Yang (Will): Quite so…a very educated man.

    [20:28] Yang (Will): *end banter*

[20:28] The GM: Okay. You make your way to Raven’s Bay. The mood is subdued - you’ve left three bodies behind you, and Jin is still bleeding, though he should recover due to Zhame’s help. Talia keeps shooting Jin glances, and Zhame nods gravely once to Yang.

[20:29] The GM: Raven’s Bay is not a walled city, except for Captain Hiao’s mansion. The town begins where the buildings start, and you are approaching from the east, and enter into the Earth Kingdom side.

[20:29] The GM: Now, I have drawn up a pencil map of the place, a rough approximation of the town.

    [20:30] The GM: http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=447881894258&set=a.447881334258.245164.645119258&pid=5067137&id=645119258

[20:30] The GM: There is the link to it.

[20:30] The GM: Also, you can see it circled on the bigger map in red if you care to look.

[20:31] The GM: You enter at the point between Master Zhu’s dogo and the Earth Kingdom barracks.

[20:31] The GM: Zhame gets harsh looks from Earth Kingdom soldiers loitering outside, but no one does anything.

[20:32] The GM: This is Raven’s Bay, and money is the main motivator here, not patriotism.

[20:32] The GM: You can see ships of all kinds in the bay, a mix of fire navy steamers and Earth Kingdom sailing ships.

[20:32] The GM: The tide is going out, and several ships are casting off and making their way off.

[20:39] The GM: The caravan begins to break up, with different people going different ways.

[20:39] The GM: Zhame makes his way to the Fire Nation District, Talia and her family make their way to the tea shop, and the Muscian Zomo eagerly goes to Lorik’s Tavern to get a drink.

[20:40] The GM: And telling the story of the bandits, exaggerating many times, no doubt.

[20:40] The GM: What do you do?

    [20:40] The GM: /end narration/

[20:40] Yang (Will): Jin I suggest you go to the healers to get that hand looked at.

[20:40] The GM: Arm and shoulder, actually.

[20:40] The GM: Knife and rock, respectively.

[20:41] The GM: And you got your shoulder hit by a club, Yang.

[20:41] Yang (Will): In fact I’m going there myself, for my shoulder

[20:41] Jin (Colton): I nod, “That was my plan. Why don’t we head on over. Best to stick together with someone to watch your back, eh?”

[20:42] The GM: Alright, so you and Yang head over to the healer?

    [20:43] Yang (Will): Yes.

    [20:43] The GM: Okay.

[20:43] The GM: The streets of Raven’s Bay are narrow, twisting, and covered in stone that is mostly cracked or worn.

[20:43] The GM: The buildings in the middle district have a slapdash, almost temporary look to them.

[20:43] The GM: You get suspicious looks as you walk by buildings, and almost everyone you see, men and woman, are armed in some fashion.

[20:44] The GM: A group of men in motley armor and with a variety of weapons goes past, and as you move out of the way, you hear someone whisper, “Hiao’s Irregulars.”

[20:45] The GM: However, the healer’s building, marked by a symbol of a leaf, appears warm and welcoming by comparison. Its walls are whitewashed, and it is done in quaint Earth Kindgom style. The porch is swept clean, the roof is shingled, and there is a lantern in one window.

[20:46] The GM: The door is closed, but there is a knocker in the shape of a koala-bear.

    [20:46] The GM: /end narration/

[20:47] Yang (Will): Well Jin, seeing as there is a knocker, i do beleive we should knock.

[20:47] Jin (Colton): “I do believe you’re right”

    [20:47] Yang (Will): -knocks-

[20:47] The GM: Alright. You knock on the door, and someone shouts from inside, “Hold on a minute!”

[20:47] The GM: It is a female voice.

[20:48] Jin (Colton): my ears perk at the sound of the ladies voice.

[20:48] The GM: There is a bustling sound from inside, and the door is hauled open by a formidable-looking woman.

[20:48] Yang (Will): Hello there, we are in need of a healer.

[20:48] The GM: She is almost six feet tall, at least fifteen years older than Jin, and is looking at you with stern eyes.

[20:48] The GM: “Alright, how did the boy here get cut up?”

[20:48] The GM: “Yes, that would be me, I’m Shala. Now, who cut up the kid?”

[20:49] Jin (Colton): “Some of the local tax collecters.” I shrink back a bit under the woman’s hard gaze.

[20:50] The GM: The woman’s stare relents a little, and she turns to Yang. “You two crossed paths with those Obsidian Fist men and are still walking? I’m impressed.” She makes a welcoming gesture. “Well, don’t just stand there, come inside so I can patch you two up. I won’t even overcharge you like I do the scurvy lot down by the docks.”

[20:51] Yang (Will): Thank you Ma’am

[20:51] Jin (Colton): I nod my thanks as I enter

[20:52] The GM: She ushers you into the healer’s buildling. It is a neat, orderly place, with mats, low tables, and lots of windows. She points at a higher table for Jin to sit down on. “C’mon, sit right there, let me have a look at that cut. And take off the shirt, I need to get a look at that shoulder.”

[20:52] The GM: Do you want to RP this whole thing?

    [20:53] Yang (Will): not…particularly

[20:53] Jin (Colton): (We can skim) I hop onto the table and remove my shirt as told.

[20:53] The GM: Okay. She takes a look at the cut, bandages it, and applies some herbs. You regain two hitpoints, putting you at four damage.

[20:53] Yang (Will): I have her take a look at my shoulder

[20:53] The GM: She then does the same for Yang, putting a compress on his bruise, putting him back up to full hit point.

[20:54] The GM: She is very forceful, but kind, being quick and efficient.

[20:54] The GM: At the end, she charges each of you ten silver.

[20:54] The GM: And, before you go, she offers to have you over for tea sometime in the next few days.

[20:55] The GM: “Anything you want to know about our cheery little cesspit here before you go out onto the streets?” she asks just as you are leaving.

[20:56] Yang (Will): Is there anywhere i can find a cartographer?

[20:56] Yang (Will): or guide to the west?

[20:57] Jin (Colton): Jin takes two gold from his pocket and pays his fee, accepting the invite for tea. “To add to Yang’s questions, who is this Hiao fellow?”

[20:57] The GM: Shala laughs. “Dear,” she says, patting Yang’s shoulder, “You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who can rub two words together in this whole town.” She pauses. “Except maybe Minister Daizo, the Fire Nation Minister, but he is a cold one. Stay away from him.”

[20:57] The GM: Shala then looks at Jin, as if she can’t believe him, then leans close and talks in a much lower voice.

[20:58] The GM: “Captain Hiao is the lord of this town. The Irregulars answer to him, and even the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom soldiers step lightly. He is too useful to both sides for either of them to crush him, and his word is law here. Don’t get on his bad side.”

[20:59] The GM: “Now, you had best be going, I’ll undoubtly have some fool in here with his head in his lap or a broken arm in a bar fight. Take care of yourselves, you seem like decent men.”

[20:59] The GM: “If you need lodgings, though, go to Lorik’s. The man’s fire nation through and through, but he’s honest and fair!” She shouts after you.

[21:00] The GM: Okay. Where do you two go now? The sun is setting, it is almost dark.

[21:00] The GM: You both feel rather tired. Days on the road and the fight this afternoon have taken a lot out of you.

[21:00] Yang (Will): Lorick’s seems like a good idea, No Jin?

[21:00] Jin (Colton): I take a slight bow as I exit to display my thanks and head outside.

[21:01] Jin (Colton): “Got a date my friend.”

[21:01] Yang (Will): In that case, I shall go by myself to Lorik’s

[21:01] Jin (Colton): ‘I’ll meet you there later if things don’t go my way.” I wave as I saunter off.

[21:01] The GM: Alright. Lorik’s is a big tavern/inn in the middle of town.

[21:02] The GM: When you get there, it is crowded, but the big scarred man behind the counter has it under control.

[21:02] Yang (Will): Is Zhame there?

[21:02] The GM: There are fire nation flags everywhere, and a portait of the Fire Lord, but the patrons are equally fire nation and Earth Kingdom.

[21:02] The GM: No. He was going to the Fire Nation Inn, a place only for Fire Nation travellers, in the Fire Nation district.

[21:03] Yang (Will): Ah Well then

[21:03] The GM: Jin, you also arrive at the White Jade Tea Shop and Inn. It is smaller than Lorik’s, and seems bright and cheery.

[21:03] The GM: It is a sedate place, with mostly quiet patrons talking in small groups.

[21:03] The GM: You see Talia across the room, sitting at a table with her family - two brothers, and both parents.

[21:03] The GM: Lorik, in the meantime, waves Yang over.

[21:04] The GM: “What d’you want, Earth Kingdom scum?” he asked cheerfully, patting him on the back when he gets closer.

    [21:04] The GM: *asks

[21:04] Yang (Will): I was told that I could find room and board here

[21:05] The GM: “Yep, and a guarantee that no one will stab you in the throat while you sleep. You won’t find /that/ anywhere else in town!”

[21:05] The GM: Lorik gives a hearty laugh, which no ones shares, but that doesn’t seem to bother him.

[21:05] Yang (Will): Amazing! How much for a night for one room?

[21:05] The GM: “It’ll be three silver for a bed by the fire and a silver a meal.”

[21:06] Yang (Will): Hands him the four pieces “That sounds fantastic!”

[21:06] The GM: “I’m all out of private rooms at the moment,” Lorik says with a grin. “Sorry, but I just poached a bunch of customers from Li over at White Jade. I’ll bet she’s furious with me.”

[21:07] The GM: “Yer an enthusiastic little Earth Kingdom bootlicker, aren’t you?” Lorik laughs. “Here, I’ll have your grub and blanket out in a minute.”

    [21:07] Yang (Will): My Thanks!

[21:07] The GM: Okay, we’re done there. Over to White Jade tea shop. Jin?

    [21:07] Jin (Colton): Yup

[21:08] Jin (Colton): I bow as I come to the table, taking a bow and asking if I can join the family for tea.

[21:08] The GM: That father glared at you as you approached, and appeared willing to rebuff you, but your politeness appears to catch him off guard, and he gives a curt nod.

[21:09] The GM: “Greetings, warrior. I owe you my thanks for saving my family from those brigands.” His expression softens a bit as he remembers it, and puts an arm around his wife. “Please, have tea and a meal with us. It is the least we can do.”

[21:09] The GM: Talia smiles at you from across the table.

[21:10] Jin (Colton): I wear a soft smile as I answer. “It was my pleasure, thank you for having me.”

[21:11] The GM: A waiter brings tea, and serves food, and you have an amicable dinner with Talia’s family, whom you learn is named the Bei Leng’s.

[21:13] Jin (Colton): I ask what brings them to this part of the country.

[21:15] The GM: “We are seeking and earth bending teacher for Talia. We have recently discovered that she can bend, but none of the Masters near where my family has their estates would teach her. However, my uncle, who lives on the island to the west, in an earthbender. This is one of the few ports safe enough, and so we are escorting her there and travelling as a family while we do so.”

[21:15] The GM: Talia blushes as they mention her earthbending.

[21:15] The GM: “I’m not very good yet,” she admits.

[21:15] The GM: You try to engage Talia, but her father directs the conversation, questioning you and keeping your attention until after the meal is over.

[21:16] The GM: The meal ends, and the family bids you farewell, but as you leave, Talia slips you a piece of paper while her father’s back is turned.

[21:16] The GM: /”Meet me behind the inn tomorrow at dusk./

[21:17] Jin (Colton): I bow once more as I leave, giving another wink to Talia as he takes his leave and heads to Lorik’s to meet with Yang.

[21:18] The GM: Alright. You meet with Lorik, who dubs you the “Bandaged Earth Kingdom Bastard” with a cheerful grin, and for another four silver gives you a blanket for the fire and a meal of sea cucumbers and pheasant-rabbit.

[21:21] The GM: You both sleep well in Lorik’s tavern, and true to his promise, you are not stabbed as you sleep, and his floor actually has a thick platypus-bear hide comforatable rug to sleep on.

[21:21] The GM: In the morning, though, as you eat breakfast, a man dressed in the non-uniform of the Irregulars walks in.

[21:21] The GM: He scans the crowd, and then walks up to each of you. He is carrying two parchment, and hands one to each of you without a word, and walks out.

[21:23] The GM: Ah. Well, the ink is smudged on Yang’s. Jin, what does yours say in dramatic handwriting?

    [21:23] The GM: Jin?

[21:24] Jin (Colton): “Weapons confiscated at the door.” Jin laughs as he folds up the letter and sticks it in his sash

[21:24] The GM: Yang, yours says the following:

[21:24] The GM: Captain Hiao, Lord of Raven’s Bay, cordially requests an audience wit you at noon tomorrow. Attendance is recommended. All weapons will be confiscated at the door.

    -Ying Lao, Chamberlain

    [21:25] The GM: *typo intended*

    [21:25] Yang (Will): Well

[21:25] Yang (Will): That is interesting

[21:25] Jin (Colton): “Any chance you could cover for me Yang? Don’t really want to make the man angry, and I’ve got previous arangements.”

[21:26] The GM: Your meeting is at dusk today, Jin.

[21:26] The GM: This is noon tomorrow.

    [21:26] Jin (Colton): Oh.

    [21:26] Jin (Colton): Day passed.

    [21:26] Yang (Will): Bwahaha

[21:27] Jin (Colton): “Er. Wait. Nevermind. I think I might be losing it.”

[21:27] The GM: With the opening of the letters, this session of Avatar RPG is at a close. We may move to the OOC window for a post-game chat if you wish
